To add the Facebook Messenger channel to your assistant, you need a developer <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/em> account to configure the connection between <\/span>Facebook Messenger<\/span><\/em> and Kore.ai. Adding the Facebook Messenger channel to your Kore.ai VA allows end-users to interact with it using their <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/em> accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1: Create a Facebook Messenger App<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

  1. =In the XO Platform, select the assistant for which you want to add the Facebook Messenger channel.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Go to <\/span>Deploy > Channels > Facebook Messenger<\/strong> and open the <\/span>Configurations <\/strong>tab.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. In a new browser, log in to the <\/span>Facebook developer portal<\/span><\/a> and select the <\/span>Create App<\/strong> option from the <\/span>My Apps<\/strong> section.\n

  4. Under <\/span>Select an App Type<\/strong>, choose <\/span>Business<\/strong>.

  5. Enter the required details, then click <\/span>Create App<\/strong>.

  6. For security reasons, you may be asked to enter your <\/span>Facebook Password<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Your App is now created and you are redirected to the <\/span>App setup page.<\/strong> Select <\/span>Messenger<\/strong> and click <\/span>Set Up<\/strong> to continue. You are redirected to the <\/span>Settings<\/strong> page.

  8. You now need to associate a page with the app. If you do not have a page, you can create a Facebook page <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Next, click <\/span>Generate Token<\/strong>. Copy the <\/span>Page Access Token <\/strong>and provide it in the XO Platform channel <\/span>Configurations <\/strong>page<\/span>.

  10. From underneath the name of your Facebook page, copy the <\/span>Page ID <\/strong>and provide it on the <\/span>Configuration <\/strong>page.

    Step 2: Configure Webhooks<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

    1. Scroll to the <\/span>Webhooks <\/strong>section, and add the <\/span>Callback URL <\/strong>and <\/span>Verify Token<\/strong>, which you can retrieve from within the <\/span>Configuration <\/strong>page in the XO Platform.

Once your webhook is set up, click <\/span>Add Subscriptions <\/strong>and select <\/span>messages<\/em><\/strong>, <\/span><\/em>messaging_postbacks<\/em><\/strong>, <\/span><\/em>messaging_optins<\/em><\/strong>, <\/span><\/em>message_deliveries<\/em><\/strong>, <\/span><\/em>message_reads<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong> Click <\/span>Save <\/strong>when done.

      Step 3: Retrieve App ID & Secret<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

      Go to the main settings menu and select <\/span>Basic<\/strong> settings; where you need to capture the\u00a0 <\/span>App ID and<\/strong> App Secret,<\/strong> and enter them in the <\/span>Configurations<\/strong> tab.<\/span>

      Step 4: Submit the App for Approval<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

      Configure any other settings that Facebook might require, then <\/span>submit the app for approval<\/strong>. Once approved, you can enable the Facebook Messenger channel for your assistant. For more info on how to submit the app, click <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Step 5: Enable the Channel<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

      On the XO Platform channel <\/span>Configuration <\/strong>page, ensure that all details are submitted, then select whether you want to show the typing indicator.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Select <\/span>Yes<\/strong>, then <\/span>Save <\/strong>to enable the channel.<\/span><\/p>\n
