{"id":18064,"date":"2018-11-23T10:54:31","date_gmt":"2018-11-23T10:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/developer.kore.ai\/developer-2\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=15439"},"modified":"2021-03-25T09:12:49","modified_gmt":"2021-03-25T09:12:49","slug":"knowledge-extraction-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developer.kore.ai\/v7-0\/docs\/bots\/bot-builder-tool\/knowledge-task\/knowledge-extraction-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge Extraction"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_auto\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row type_default valign_top\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<p>The Knowledge Graph Extraction Service enables you to effortlessly move your enterprise\u2019s existing Frequently Asked Questions- FAQ content &#8211; into bot ontology.<\/p>\n<p>The feature supports the extraction from unstructured content such as web pages and PDF documents as well as from structured content such as CSV files.<\/p>\n<p>After completing the extraction, you can edit the question and answers using an easy-to-use interface and organize them under the relevant Knowledge Graph nodes.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Extraction_Process\">Extraction Process<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Moving data using the Knowledge Extraction (KE) Service to the Knowledge Collection involves the followings steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Step 1 Extracting:<\/b> Extract the existing FAQ content from structured or unstructured sources of question-answer data such as PDF, web pages, and CSV files. This extraction can be done before or after creating a Knowledge Collection for the bot.<br \/>\n<b>Note<\/b>: The KE service supports specific content structure for each source type. Refer to the <a href=\"#Supported_Formats\">Supported formats<\/a> section for details.<br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Step 2 Editing: <\/b>Upon successful data extraction, you can edit the questions and answer text before moving it to the Knowledge Graph.<\/li>\n<li><b>Step 3 Moving: <\/b>You can add data into a Bot before or after creating a Knowledge Graph (KG). If you try to add the extracted content to a KG before it exists, the bot creates automatically create one with the Bot\u2019s name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Knowledge Extractor allows you to add the extracted content to the Knowledge Graph:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Add to Knowledge Graph<\/b>: moves the selected questions to the root node of the Knowledge Collection. You can use this option when the required term is not yet added to the KG or when the Bot does not have a KG.<\/li>\n<li><b>Add to Specific Term<\/b>: If the bot already consists of a Knowledge Collection, you drag-drop the selected content to the required nodes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Extracting_from_a_Website\">Extracting from a Website<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the bot into which you want to extract the content and click the <b>Knowledge Collection <\/b>tab.<\/li>\n<li>Under Extracts section, click <b>Extract from URL<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a <strong>Name<\/strong> for extraction.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the <b>URL <\/b>of the page, and then click <b>Proceed<\/b>.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/ke-url.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21227\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/ke-url.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/20221201094802\/ke-url.png 820w, https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/20221201094802\/ke-url-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Once the extraction is complete, the page with the Success status appears.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Extracting_from_File\">Extracting from File<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the bot into which you want to extract the content and click the <b>Knowledge Collection <\/b>tab.<\/li>\n<li>From the <strong>Extracts<\/strong> section, from the tab <b>Extract from file, <\/b>click <b>Browse<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Browse to the file &#8211; As you drag and drop the child nodes will be expanded.<\/li>\n<li>You can select multiple Q&amp;As and do a bulk move.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>From Knowledge Collection<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the bot and click the<b> Knowledge Collection<\/b> tab.<\/li>\n<li>Select the node to which you want to add these Question-Answers.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Add from extraction<\/strong>. It opens the list of successful and failed extractions.<\/li>\n<li>Click the name of a successful extract whose content you want to move.<\/li>\n<li>Select the checkboxes next to the question-answer pairs that you want to move and then click <b>Add<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Once you move a question-answer pair from the extract to the knowledge collection, you cannot move it again. The platform throws a duplicate error when you try to move a question from the extract that\u2019s already present in the collection. You can make any changes to the moved content from the knowledge collection. However, if the question is modified or removed in the KG, then the developer would be allowed to add it again to the KG.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Supported_Formats\">Supported Formats<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Knowledge Extraction service supports extracting FAQs only from supported <a name=\"Formats\"><\/a>CSV, PDF and URL formats.<\/p>\n<h4>CSV<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The KE service interprets the text in the first column as a question and that in the second column as an answer.<\/li>\n<li>The file should not have any headers.<\/li>\n<li>The KE service ignores any headers and the text present in the other columns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>PDF<\/h4>\n<p>The Knowledge Extraction service can process the content from a PDF and convert into question-answer pairs. It can efficiently extract content from documents that have a table of contents and the text is formatted with uniform header and paragraph blocks. The service has limitations in extracting the content from documents with nested headers and multi-format text.<\/p>\n<h4>Web Pages<\/h4>\n<p>The Knowledge Extraction service supports the following three different formats of FAQ web pages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plain FAQ Pages with linear question-answer pairs<\/li>\n<li>Pages with question hyperlinks that point to answers on the same page.<\/li>\n<li>Pages with question hyperlinks that point to answers on a different page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Extraction of certain FAQs on the webpage fails under the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The question text is split between multiple HTML tags on the FAQ page.<\/li>\n<li>The tag applied to the answer is neither the child nor the sibling of the extracted question as per the HTML DOM structure.<\/li>\n<li>The question doesn\u2019t have a hyperlink to the answer (applies to FAQs with hyperlinks)<\/li>\n<li>When the questions hyperlink to the answer, but the question statement isn\u2019t repeated above the answer (applies to FAQs with hyperlinks)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The extraction of the entire FAQ page fails if the page consists of more than one FAQ page types mentioned above.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Knowledge Graph Extraction Service enables you to effortlessly move your enterprise\u2019s existing Frequently Asked Questions- FAQ content - into bot ontology.
