{"id":61019,"date":"2024-01-10T06:50:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T06:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/?p=61019"},"modified":"2024-02-13T10:22:08","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T10:22:08","slug":"spell-correction-version-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/docs\/bots\/nlp\/spell-correction-version-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Spell Correction &#8211; Version 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_auto\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row type_default valign_top\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Spell Correction feature for the supported languages corrects the misspelled words in the user&#8217;s utterance based on the language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Version 10.1.19 of the XO Platform includes a new version of the Spell Correction (Version 2) for English that comes with the following advantages:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Consistent Spell Correction Experience<\/strong>: The spell correction is performed at a central place immediately after identifying the conversation language, unlike the previous version, where spell correction used to happen separately at each NLP engine. This makes the Spell Correction experience<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">consistent across languages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Enhanced Accuracy<\/strong>: It checks words against comprehensive dictionaries and uses edit distance to find and rank possible corrections based on their commonness in the dictionary.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Configurations_to_Manage_Spell_Correction\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Configurations to Manage Spell Correction<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To manage spell correction effectively, two new language-specific settings are introduced in the <strong>Advanced NLP Configurations<\/strong>; these settings are not added and are disabled by default:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Spell Correction Version<\/strong>: Choose this configuration from the drop-down, and then choose the version.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Spell Correction Status<\/strong>: Choose this configuration from the drop-down, and then toggle the status to \u2018Enabled\u2019.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20240213102149\/XOP-1910-existing-bot-without-spell-correction-enabled-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-61217 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20240213102149\/XOP-1910-existing-bot-without-spell-correction-enabled-1-1024x610.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20240213102149\/XOP-1910-existing-bot-without-spell-correction-enabled-1-1024x610.png 1024w, https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20240213102149\/XOP-1910-existing-bot-without-spell-correction-enabled-1-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the setting is enabled, the spell correction will happen after the language detection step. The spell-corrected input is used by all the engines for further processing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, once V2 is enabled, the following old spell correction-specific settings are removed:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Auto-Correction<\/strong>\u00a0setting in Knowledge Graph.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ML_Spell_Correction<\/strong> custom flag in Advanced NLP Configurations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impact_on_New_and_Existing_Bots\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Impact on New and Existing Bots<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>For the new bots and the existing bots in which spell correction is not enabled<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in configured or published copy for both ML and KG engines, only Spell Correction V2 is supported. (Choose the configurations and enable the setting as explained in the previous section.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>For all the existing bots in which the spell correction is enabled<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in either configured or published copy in either of ML or KG engine, both the Spell Correction versions are supported. The Platform displays an upgrade banner on the \u2018Thresholds &amp; Configurations\u2019 screen.
