The reasons could be as varied as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creating a version of the assistant before proceeding to subsequent changes;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Preserving a fully tested version till the production release while continuing to work on enhancements;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keeping track of all the changes made.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If the new changes are not working out, for any reason, then you would want to revert back to the previous state.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Overview\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Overview<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kore.ai\u2019s <\/span><strong>Bot Versions<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> option is specifically designed to meet the above requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Using this option, you as a developer can:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">create multiple versions of the definition;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">view and manage all versions available for the assistant; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">restore the assistant to a previous version.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Versioning is supported in Standard and Universal Bots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This option can be accessed from the <\/span><strong>Deploy<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tab from the top menu, under the left menu option <\/span><strong>Bot Management -&gt; Bot Versions.<\/strong><strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\n<h1><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Version_Types\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Version Types<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The version type is based on the ways in which a Bot version is created:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>User Created<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: These versions are created by you as a developer, as discussed below.<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The maximum number of user-created versions that will be created is set to 20. Once this limit is reached new versions will be created and the oldest versions are deleted.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Auto Created<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: These versions are created as part of the publishing cycle. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/docs\/bots\/publish\/publishing-bot\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Learn more<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Whenever you publish a VA, the Platform creates a version automatically.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This auto version includes the definition of the published copy of the assistant after the current publish request is accepted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In case the publish request is rejected, the version will not be created.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You cannot delete these versions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While an auto-version creation is in-progress, you cannot raise any subsequent publish requests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The maximum number of auto-versions that will be created is set to 20. Following are the steps to create such a version:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From the <\/span><strong>Bot Versions<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> page, click the <\/span><strong>Create Version<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> button.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You will be prompted to enter:<\/span><\/li>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Version Name<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 enter a unique name that would ideally give an idea of a major feature of the assistant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Description<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 add in brief the changes that went into this version.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Click <\/span><strong>Create Version<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> when done. Your version is created.<br \/><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the <\/span><strong>Bot Versions<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> page, you will see a list of all versions of the assistant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For each version you can view:<\/span><\/li>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Name<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of the versions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Description<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of the version<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Platform<\/strong> <strong>Version<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> where this version was created<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Created on<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 the version creation timestamp<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Created by<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 the user who created the version.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can perform the following actions on each version:<\/span><\/li>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Restore<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to a specific version;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Export<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> a specific version;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Delete<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> a specific version (not applicable for auto-versions).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can also <\/span><strong>Compare<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> versions to track class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Comparing_Versions\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Comparing Versions<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Version Comparison feature facilitates understanding the differences between versions of the same assistant. It helps to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Debug issues in the recently published version by letting developers compare the published version with any of the previous versions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Analyze changes before Publish. Developers can take a snapshot of changes by comparing a copy of the in-development version and the published version of the assistant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perform Impact Analysis before (or after) Version Restore. Developers can get a better understanding of the impact of version restoration by comparing the two versions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Analyze changes in NLP\/NLU. NLP trainers can analyze the change in the assistant\u2019s NLP performance by comparing the training present in two versions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Using the <\/span><strong>Compare<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> option against any version, you can compare any two versions of your assistant to review the list of changes made to its definition between the two versions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To compare versions, follow the below steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bot Versions<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> page, you can find a list of existing versions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hover over the version you want to compare and click <\/span><strong>Compare<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the <\/span><strong>Select Another Version to Compare<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> window, you can find the selected version (source) of your assistant and a list that contains different versions (target). The restoration honors the compatible versions and will reject any non-compatible version restorations.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"w-separator size_small with_line width_default thick_1 style_solid color_border align_center\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_restoration_works\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How restoration works<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The following is how version restore is handled for each of the components:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tasks\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tasks<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The following rules apply to Dialog Tasks, Alert Tasks, Small Talk (per language), UI Forms, Panels and Widgets<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If there are one or more additional tasks in the assistant, and if these are not present in the restoration version definition, then these tasks will be implicitly marked as \u2018Deleted\u2019 in the Platform.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These \u2018Deleted\u2019 tasks will not be available for development and they will automatically be removed from the Published copy of the assistant during the first publish request post-restoration.
