Adding Google Chat as a channel to your Kore.ai assistant allows end-users to chat with it using Google Chat. This article shows you how to set it up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1: Enable the Google Chat API<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

  1. Log into <\/span>Google Cloud.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Click <\/span>Library<\/strong>, in the left side menu.

  3. Search and select<\/span> the <\/span>Google Chat API<\/strong>.

  4. Click <\/span>Enable<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. On enabling the API, you are redirected to the <\/span>Overview<\/strong> page of the <\/span>Google Chat API<\/strong>.

    Step 2: Set Up the API in Google Cloud\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

    To set up the Google Chat API, you need to create credentials first, then configure its details and functionality, as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. From the Credentials page, click <\/span>Create credentials<\/strong> and select <\/span>Service account<\/strong>.

    2. Provide a name for your service account, service account description, and click <\/span>Create and Continue<\/strong>.

    3. Once the service account is created there are 2 optional steps:<\/span>\n
        \n
      1. Grant this service account access to project<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n
      2. Grant users access to this service account<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      3. Click on the <\/span>Done<\/strong> button.

      4. Go to the <\/span>Configurations<\/strong> section and provide all the required details like:<\/span>\n

        1. App name<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. Avatar URL<\/span><\/li>\n
        3. Description

          <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        4. Under <\/span>Functionality<\/strong> choose both <\/span>Receive one-to-one messages\u00a0 <\/strong>and <\/span>Join spaces and group conversations<\/strong> options.

        5. Under <\/span>Connection Settings<\/strong>:<\/span>\n
            \n
          1. Select the <\/span>App URL<\/strong> option.<\/span><\/li>\n
          2. Go to the Kore.ai <\/span>XO Platform ><\/strong> Select VA > Deploy > Channels > Google Chat > Configurations<\/strong> and copy the <\/span>Webhook URL<\/strong>. <\/span><\/li>\n
          3. Go back to Connections Settings in Google Cloud<\/strong> and paste the Webhook URL<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
          4. Select the appropriate option under <\/span>Permissions<\/strong>.

            Next, we will be configuring the API keys that the XO Platform will use to connect to Google Chat.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Step 3: Create API Keys<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

            Once your service account has been created, you need to manage the keys corresponding to your API, as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

              \n
            1. Navigate to the <\/span>Credentials <\/strong>page and click on <\/span>Manage service accounts<\/strong>.

            2. From the Manage service accounts page click the <\/span>Actions <\/strong>button corresponding to your newly created account, then on <\/span>Manage keys<\/strong>.

            3. From the <\/span>Manage Keys <\/strong>page click on <\/span>Add Key <\/strong>button, select <\/span>Create new key <\/strong>from the drop down, select the JSON option, and click on <\/span>Create <\/strong>button.

              A JSON file will be generated and you need to copy the <\/span>client_email, and private_key <\/span><\/em>that needs to be input into the XO Platform. .<\/span><\/p>\n

              Step 4: Configure the Google Chat Channel<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

              In the XO Platform, select the VA you\u2019re working with, then go to Deploy > Channels > Google Chat > Configurations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

              1. Enter the following configuration details:<\/span><\/li>\n
                  \n
                1. Client Email <\/strong>\u2013 Copy the value of the <\/span>client_email<\/span><\/em> field present in the credentials JSON file of your Service Account and enter it here.<\/span><\/li>\n
                2. Private Key <\/strong>\u2013 Copy the value of the <\/span>private_key<\/span><\/em> field present in the credentials JSON file of your Service Account and enter it here<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                3. Select the <\/span>Yes<\/strong> and click <\/span>Save<\/strong> to enable Google Chat channel.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
