{"id":17984,"date":"2017-03-24T14:41:00","date_gmt":"2017-03-24T14:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/developer.kore.com\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=10586"},"modified":"2023-11-01T13:14:21","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T13:14:21","slug":"adding-the-microsoft-teams-channel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/docs\/bots\/channel-enablement\/adding-the-microsoft-teams-channel\/","title":{"rendered":"Adding the Microsoft Teams Channel"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_auto\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row type_default valign_top\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column \">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<p>You can add Microsoft Teams as a delivery channel to your Kore.ai Virtual Assistant to allow it to interact with end-users using Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Prerequisites\">Prerequisites<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure you have an account with the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.botframework.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft Bot Framework<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Create a Bot Channel Service and register it in Azure.<\/li>\n<li>Enable a webhook for the platform to receive messages.<\/li>\n<li>Purchase an active subscription to Azure services with Admin access; required to subscribe to a new Azure service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_1_Create_an_Azure_Bot\">Step 1: Create an Azure Bot<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Create an Azure Bot and configure it on the Kore.ai XO Platform to establish a communication channel between Microsoft Teams and the platform.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.azure.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Azure portal<\/a>, and click <strong>+ Create a resource<\/strong> from the portal menu.<\/li>\n<li>Search and select <strong>Azure Bot<\/strong> on the page, and click <strong>Create<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026154834\/MS_Team_Create.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-48513\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026154834\/MS_Team_Create.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Fill in the required details, select the <strong>Single Tenant<\/strong> or <strong>Multi Tenant<\/strong>\u00a0option in the <strong>Type of App <\/strong>field, and then click <strong>Review + Create<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20231031144532\/ms_teams_single_multi_tenant.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-59930\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20231031144532\/ms_teams_single_multi_tenant.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>On the next page, review the details and check for the <strong>Validation<\/strong> status. You can choose the default option: <strong>Auto create App Id and password<\/strong>. You can also choose to<strong> Create a new Microsoft App ID<\/strong> or <strong>Use existing app registration<\/strong>. Refer Step 3: Enable Microsoft Teams Channel.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221027170143\/MS_Team_Cert_new.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-48613\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221027170143\/MS_Team_Cert_new.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Close the<strong> Certificates and secrets<\/strong> section to return the <strong>Configuration <\/strong>section of the resource using the breadcrumbs.<br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong>: Make a note of the Microsoft App Id in the Azure Bot configurations page and provide it in the Configuration tab of this window.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_Enable_Microsoft_Teams_Channel\">Step 3: Enable Microsoft Teams Channel<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Configure the MS Teams credentials on the Kore.ai XO Platform to establish communication between both.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>On the platform, select the assistant, and then go to the <strong>Deploy <\/strong>menu.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Microsoft Teams<\/strong> channel, click the <strong>Configuration <\/strong>tab, and then enter the following details: <strong>Multi Tenant Apps Configuration<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Microsoft App ID<\/strong> &#8211; The app ID of your Azure Bot resource.<\/li>\n<li><strong>App Password<\/strong> &#8211; The App password value that you find in the Certificates &amp; Secrets page of the Azure bot.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enable Proactive Notifications (optional)<\/strong> &#8211; Drag the slider to enable proactive notifications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Application (Client) ID<\/strong> &#8211; The app ID of your Azure Bot resource.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Client Secret<\/strong> &#8211; The client secret value that you find on the Certificates &amp; Secrets page of the Azure bot.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delivery (tenant) ID <\/strong>&#8211; The subscription ID that you can find on the Overview page of the Azure bot.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20230530131540\/ms_teams_multi_tenant.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-57286\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20230530131540\/ms_teams_multi_tenant.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Single Tenant App Configuration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the <strong>Single-Tenant<\/strong> option and enter the <strong>App Tenant ID<\/strong> value.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20230530132224\/ms_teams_single_tenant-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-57290\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20230530132224\/ms_teams_single_tenant-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the <strong>Webhook URL<\/strong> from the tab and paste it in the <strong>Messaging endpoint<\/strong> field on the <strong>Configurations <\/strong> module in Azure bot.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Apply <\/strong>to save the entered value.<\/li>\n<li>Once the <strong>Configuration <\/strong>is completed, select the <strong>Channels <\/strong>option from the left menu and then select the <strong>Microsoft Teams<\/strong> channel.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026180048\/enable_channel.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-48531\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026180048\/enable_channel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"543\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>I Agree<\/strong> checkbox on the <strong>Terms of Service<\/strong> dialog and then click <strong>Agree<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026183658\/enable_channel1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-48546\" src=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026183658\/enable_channel1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Microsoft Teams Commercial (most common)<\/strong> option to enable the Teams as per your commercial business requirements. If you want to enable the Azure bot for Government Community Cloud (GCC) organizations, select the <strong>Microsoft Teams Government<\/strong> option. Click the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/platform\/concepts\/deploy-and-publish\/apps-publish-overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn more <\/a> link next to the option on the screen for more information.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221026184146\/enable_channel3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_4_Publish_Your_Bot_in_Teams\">Step 4: Publish Your Bot in Teams<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can now publish the Azure bot on your MS Teams account so that your users can discover and converse with the bot.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, create an MS Teams app, associate the bot with it, and then publish the app.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Log in<\/a> to the MS Teams account with admin credentials.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Ellipsis [&#8230;]<\/strong> in the left navigation bar and then select the <strong>Developer Portal<\/strong> icon to launch the Apps builder.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221027091455\/MS_Team_App.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Publish your App<\/strong> and complete the publishing process.<br \/>\n<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/kore-wordpress.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/developer.kore.ai\/v10-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/20221027093225\/publish_app.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"459\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_5_Approve_the_MS_Teams_App_Publish_Request\">Step 5: Approve the MS Teams App Publish Request<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The request to publish the MS Teams App must be approved by an MS Teams Admin. Log in to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/admin.teams.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MS Teams Admin Portal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and proceed to <strong>Teams apps &gt; Manage apps<\/strong>. Search for the app that you published in the earlier step. Select the app and change the Publishing status to <strong>Published<\/strong>. This completes the process for publishing your bot for your Teams users.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_6_Configure_Proactive_Notifications_Optional\">Step 6: Configure Proactive Notifications [Optional]<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you want to send Proactive Notifications to your users, you need to perform a few more actions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: You can skip the following sections and proceed to the Configurations tab if you do not intend to send Proactive Notifications.<\/p>\n<p>To enable Proactive Notifications, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capture the <\/span><strong>App ID<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> associated with the MS Teams App that is approved in Step 3.
