Adding a Twitter Bot

Kore.ai provides integration for a built-in Twitter Bot that you can use to display message notifications and execute tasks directly from Kore.ai Messenger or your supported channel. To use the Twitter Bot, you just need to add the Bot to your channel, and then configure the settings for the Bot, such as authentication to access Twitter, and the notification messages that you want. For more information about other Kore.ai Bots, see Adding Bots.

About the Kore.ai Bot for Twitter

DIYTwitterLogo2Twitter is a social networking site that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets.” You can use this Bot to tweet, retweet, send a direct message, and receive tweets from the people you follow in your messaging channel.

Integration Type Web Service – Connect to this Bot using a web service integration where Kore.ai polls the service for updates based on a specified interval.
Category Social Network – This Bot is available in the Kore.ai application in the Social Network category.
Channels Kore.ai – This Bot is available in the Kore.ai Messenger application.
Spark – This Bot is available in the Cisco Spark application.

Configuring Twitter 

To configure web service tasks, you need to add the Twitter Bot from the Kore.ai Bot Store, and then setup the task.

To setup a Twitter task, click Connect to Twitter, enter the Twitter URL for your company, for example, https://api.twitter.com, your Twitter account ID, your password, and then press Enter.

After you are connected, you can perform tasks for Twitter directly from your channel and setup message notifications to get notified in the your messaging channel when an event occurs in Twitter.

The following table describes Twitter tasks that you can integrate with your supported channel.

TASK TO CONFIGURE THIS TASK…
Follow User In the Perform Task dialog,

  • enter a Username to Follow
  • and then click Submit.

In a team room, you can enter the @twitter follow Bot command to invoke and configure this task.

Retweet In the Perform Task dialog,

  • enter an Id of Tweet/Status
  • and then click Submit.

In a team room, you can enter the @twitter retweet Bot command to invoke and configure this task.

Send Direct Message In the Perform Task dialog,

  • search for a User Name
  • enter a Message to Send
  • and then click Submit.

In a team room, you can enter the @twitter DM Bot command to invoke and configure this task.

Tweet In the Perform Task dialog,

  • enter Your Message to Tweet
  • and then click Submit.

In a team room, you can enter the @twitter tweet Bot command to invoke and configure this task.

Unfollow User In the Perform Task dialog,

  • enter a User Name to Unfollow
  • and then click Submit.

In a team room, you can enter the @twitter unfollow_user Bot command to invoke and configure this task.

You can setup message notifications to your messaging channel using a Twitter web service. Click , click Get notified when…, and then click one of the Twitter web services described in the following table.

TASK TO CONFIGURE THIS TASK…
New Tweets In the Setup Task dialog,

  • optionally, click the gray box in Filters to setup one or more filters to prevent message notifications for specified criteria. You can filter on one or more of the following:
    • Notify me only when certain users tweet. Enter at least three characters of the user name
    • Notify me only when a tweet contains certain words or phrases
    • Click Done to save the filter. For more information, see Setting up Filters. 
  • optionally customize the Task Name 
  • optionally customize the Short Description
  • enable or disable Mute task notifications
  • optionally customize the interval for message notifications in the Check for updates… section
  • and then click Finish.
New Follower In the Setup Task dialog,

  • optionally customize the Task Name
  • optionally customize the Short Description
  • enable or disable Mute task notifications
  • optionally customize the interval for message notifications in the Check for updates… section
  • and then click Finish.
User Mention In the Setup Task dialog,

  • optionally customize the Task Name
  • optionally customize the Short Description
  • enable or disable Mute task notifications
  • optionally customize the interval for message notifications in the Check for updates… section
  • and then click Finish.
New Retweets In the Setup Task dialog,

  • optionally customize the Task Name
  • optionally customize the Short Description
  • enable or disable Mute task notifications
  • optionally customize the interval for message notifications in the Check for updates… section
  • and then click Finish.

Next Steps

After Twitter is configured as web service, when any of the events occur in Twitter, a message is displayed on the Bots page in Kore.ai Messenger or in your supported messaging channel.
